// About Geolocation Accuracy
Geolocation data is sourced from the MaxMind GeoLite2 database, which is the industry standard for IP geolocation. However, geolocation has inherent limitations:
- VPNs and proxies show the server's location, not the user's physical location — this is intentional
- Mobile networks often route traffic through regional hubs, which may be in a different city than the device
- Corporate networks may route all traffic through a headquarters location
- IPv6 addresses have lower geolocation accuracy than IPv4 in some regions
💡 For location correction requests: MaxMind accepts corrections directly at
maxmind.com/geoip-location-correction. Submitting corrections there updates the underlying database that ip-tracker.eu uses.
